Pear Tree Behavioral Health

Helping families and children flourish in a complex world.

At Pear Tree Behavioral Health my aim is to inspire confident and connected parenting. Journeying along an unexpected parenting path can often feel isolating and overwhelming. Together, we can navigate this path with optimism and from a place of possibility. To families looking for support, you are not alone and I am here to help.

Rachel Poirier M.Ed., BCBA

My love of science started early and has been ongoing; I was enchanted by paleontology in elementary school, campaigning to save endangered species in middle school, and exploring national parks throughout high school. This passion for learning about the elements necessary for systems to thrive led me to earn a B.S. in Biology, and later my M.Ed. in Educational Policy. After over a decade of working with the International Baccalaureate, teaching and training teachers both in the U.S. and overseas, my own unexpected parenting path led me to shift my focus to directly supporting children and families.

I offer a unique blend of personal, professional and academic experience, and I’ve found that it provides a beautiful opportunity to apply the neuroscience of relationships and emotional regulation in a way that can inspire confident and connected parenting.

You didn’t expect this - that’s ok.

I strive to provide a safe and nurturing space for parents and educators to land. My services focus on understanding and addressing challenging behaviors at home or school using a holistic model; this is intended to support the development of effective communication methods, emotional regulation, and increased resilience. These practices are designed to reflect your family’s values and are customized to specific challenge areas. My philosophy aligns with the social model of divergent abilities and I provide neurodiversity-affirming information and resources.
